Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Somatic Therapy)
Sensorimotor psychotherapy (SP) is a holistic, somatic therapy approach to healing trauma and attachment issues. Unlike traditional talk therapy, SP welcomes the body as an essential source of information and companion in healing. SP uses a three-phase approach (Safety and Stabilization, Processing, and Integration) to gently guide you through the therapeutic process for a deeper, more complete healing.
How do I know if somatic therapy is right for me?
Somatic therapy may be right for you if:
1. You’ve done traditional talk therapy but feel stuck or notice difficulties maintaining the progress.
2. You feel disconnected from your body or have dissociative experiences that are impacting your life.
3. You’ve experienced trauma, whether it was early in your life or as an adult.
4. You struggle to feel safe or secure within your relationships.
5. You have chronic pain with no known cause.
6. You experience emotional pain or physical symptoms that remain unresolved.
7. You are open to trying something different.
8. You are seeking a holistic healing experience.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy sessions are offered as 50-60 minutes. When processing trauma memories, 90-120 minute sessions are also an option, if your body desires that spaciousness.
